Prospectus:

Objective:

The objective of this project was to combine my passion for creativity, branding and graphic design into a project that would be personally challenging for me, as well as something that would deliver a result. In considering all these things, I decided to “rebrand the brands we know & love” by picking 5 companies to recreate their logos and redesign the packaging and artwork for one product from each company.

Reasoning:

Logos, when thoughtfully designed, can possess the “wow” factor of a brand. With the daily hustle and bustle of any company, it is easy to neglect certain marketing aspects of any company, which is why I picked the 5 brands that we “know & love” to give them a bit of a face lift. With the mission and vision statements of each brand in mind, I chose colors that accurately portrayed the characteristics and aspects that each brand was trying to convey. Although, we often find that logos are rather simple, I chose to take a more creative direction with this project to showcase my creativity and to represent my personality. I wanted this project to be captivating to the eye, so bright colors were used heavily.

Conclusion:

By the end of this project, I wanted to be able to say that absolutely nothing came from the internet or someone else’s work. I did get inspiration and tutorials from the internet, as it was necessary to teach myself different things in Photoshop and Illustrator. However, not a single aspect or element was created by someone else, other than myself. Every detail, down to the image of the beach in MARRIOTT Bonvoy is my own original work, and I am very proud to show to you all that I have learned on these next few pages.

What went into this project:

Below are images of my design boards where I brought my ideas to light. This is just a small portion of some of the ideas that I came up with in order to develop each product and logo into what they are now,

Tedious Details:

The images below showcase some of the small details that went into each aspect of this project, many of which required hand drawing and coloring, as well as adding my own effects to individualize each detail to give it more of a realistic effect.

This is an image of a grape in the making. Here I drew a circle and applied my own customized gradient effect to add some dimension to each grape. Later, I added outlining and other effects to give it more of a realistic feel.

This is an image of the water droplet creations that I made using Photoshop. I later decided to make the water droplets on Illustrator through the use of the gradient tool and combining multiple layers of gradients, which created a more visible effect for the layer underneath the droplets.

This is an image of the finished combination of grapes. Each grape was individually sized and shaped. I also added different effects to each grape such as different gradients, different "bruising" and different water droplets. This required close attention to detail and a lot of customization.

The image is of the stem of the cup I created made to resemble that of a grapevine. This was one of the aspects of the project that required my most patience as I created line segments for each different color you see. The right side of the canvas shows how I used the line segment tool to draw each shape and then chose the Fill and Stroke colors to give it the effect I was going for.

This was an idea I originally had for the MARRIOTT Bonvoy rewards program, which I vetoed because I felt that it was too busy. I wanted the hidden arrows to convey a message of travel, as well as the more obvious aspects to shine through.

I ultimately concluded with this design, which I felt was more sleek and representative of the brand. In order to make this design, I had to teach myself 3D Photoshop which is used in a coordinates grid system seen in this image. This was both tough and frustrating, but I was very pleased with the turn out.
